Q. Do I need to register for Sunday School/Children’s Church this year?
A. Yes, we are asking you to register so that we have your contact and other information which will assist us with planning as a church. You may pick up a registration form in the office, or download from our Forms and Resources page. Once completed you may mail in your form, fax it to 952-758-4407 or drop it off in the church office.
Q. Is there a registration fee for Sunday School/Children’s Church?
A. No
Q. Which service hours will Sunday School/Children’s Church be offered? Do I always need to attend the same hour?
A. Big City Studio Children’s Church and Pre-K classrooms will be offered at all three services. Your child may attend any service that you choose on any given week. With that being said however, we strongly encourage families to consider attending the 8:30 service or the 11:00 service. The 9:45 service is the most heavily attended worship service to the point that it is almost too full. As a church we are trying to proactively provide a welcoming environment to not only the regular attendees, but also to those who may be walking in the doors of a church for the very first time. We believe offering Sunday School/Children’s Church at all three services will hopefully distribute attendance to all the services and help us leave open seats for un-churched visitors.
Q. Can my child bring a friend to Sunday School/Children’s Church?
A. Yes, yes, yes! Children will be encouraged to invite and bring their friends and visiting relatives. Everyone will be welcome. We believe that kids will enjoy it so much that they will love telling their friends about it and inviting them to come!
Q. Will there be an opening worship time like last year?
A. Yes, with a plus! The first Sunday of every month will include live worship led by our newly formed Youth Worship Team. The second,third and fourth Sundays children will worship with DVD’s and/or CD’s. The fifth Sunday of the month (when there is a fifth Sunday) will be ”Big City Spotlight Sunday”.
Q. What is Big City Spotlight Sunday?
A. It is important for children to regularly attend worship with their family as well as attend Sunday School and/or Children’s Church. It is also important that children feel a part of the service. On Big City Spotlight Sunday we will offer Big City Studio at only one of the service times. Any child (age 4 and older) may attend. Also, Children’s Church kids will help lead opening worship in the Sanctuary at whichever hour they are attending the worship service. After the opening songs, they will return to their seats with their family or if they are attending the hour where Big City Studio is being “spotlighted” they will return to the Fellowship Hall.
Q. Will I need to sign my child in each morning like last year?
A. Yes. We will ask that you sign your child in and write where you will be in the church so if there is an emergency where you would need to come pick up your child,, we will know where to find you. Your child will also need to get his nametag and place it on his/her shirt just above where his heart is. This will help the teacher know their name and make it a more special time for them.
Q. I have a Pre-Schooler. Can they attend Sunday School?
A. Yes, Sunday School is provided for children who are 4 years old (by September 1st, 2007). They will join Children’s Church for worship and then will be dismissed to their classroom to be taught the lesson.
Q. Where and how do I pick up my child after service?
A. For the safety of your child you must come into the Fellowship Hall to pick up your child from Children’s Church. Please enter from the double doors, pick up your child (they will remain seated until you arrive) and exit through the designated door. This will help maintain order as we transition to the next service as the next group of kids arriving. If you have a pre-schooler, you should go to their classroom to pick them up and exit the same way.
Q. I would like to volunteer to be a part of Sunday School/Children’s Church. Is their any place I can help serve?
